Not a tutorial but an explanation

I started this baby blanket recently and am trying to get it done sooner rather than later.  My idea on the color scheme was grey with a mixture of random non matching colors (I must be around Rachel too much).
I think I am still undecided on the idea but at this point I'm too far into and so it's happening.
I get questions on the pattern, it's quite easy and not mine.  It's a basic grant stripe, nothing fancy...I'm sure it's been around for years.
Here is the hook I use.  Never pay attention to the letter, you will find different brands and manufacturers are not the same.  The most important thing to look for is the number.  This one here is a 6.0mm  if I wasn't so lazy I would dig through my cup of hooks and find a "J" that has a different number to prove my point but you can just take my word on it this time.
Here is a link to the Attic24 blog that has the actual pattern.
I'm not even going to try and explain the chain count and first row.  It confused me at first.  Use a calculator, I did...not all asians are good in math.  I modify mind because sometimes I miss count those chains and I have extras...I've been known to tuck those in.  Once you get past this part the rest is easy!  (If you have questions let me know and I will try and explain the starting process)

You will make 3 double crochet's in each space, see the yellow arrow above.  Keep going until you reach the end.  The turn, chain 3 and continue the pattern.
Check out that action shot.
I'm sure I've confused some of you.

Handmade shop

I've been busy making these infinity scarves the past few weeks.  They are pretty snugglie and great for the cooler weather that will hopefully be coming soon.  I will be selling them at my bud Rachel and her sister's handmade shop which will be opening in downtown Saint Petersburg, Florida.  The grand opening party is this Saturday night.
If you are anywhere in the Tampabay area you should stop by the store and check things out.  The store will be open Tuesday - Saturday 11am-6pm.  The girls have put in a lot of hard work, the shop will be filled will all sorts of handmade items to decorate your home or yourself.

645 Central Ave.  Arcade Building #10
Saint Petersburg, Florida

The girls really want to support the DIY lifestyle and will be offering classes with all sorts of fun projects.  I will be teaching some classes there as well.  I think the first is going to be an amigurumi cupcake.  I'll keep you updated.

Please spread the word, I'm sure the girls would love it!!

Oh, and if you're not in the area and would like to by a scarf let me know :)

A bad blogger's craft room

I guess I haven't been online recently.  If I'm going to be honest it's been a mixture of too tired and too lazy.  Seems like by the time I get home from work all I want to do is sit around and veg out.  Most recently I got back into playing Animal Crossing City Folk on the Wii.  If you've ever played the game you'd understand how much time it sucks out of your life.  I am truly addicted, I've been playing since the GameCube version came out back in the day.
My craft room has been neglected as well.  Stuff is just piling up on top of each other, so many unfinished projects so little time.
I keep all my in progress crochet projects on this chair.  The dogs shed so much I have to keep it away from anything they touch.  I currently have 5 blankets that have yet to be completed, I have a problem with finishing projects.

Here are a few peeks into my room... I never realized it was so colorful.
There is so much more going on in this room but I will save that for next time.

I would love to see everyone else's space.  Please leave some links so we can visit :)

Here we go again

In case you didn't know I love food and eat way too much.  Just look at my instagram feed and you will see about 85% is food.  In an attempt to get my weight down to a normal healthy range I signed up for WW.com  Today will be my first day of counting those points; we'll see how it goes.
Anyone else using WW?  Can you be friends on there like you can with the myfitnesspal app?
I'd like to find some weightloss blogs to read too, anyone have recommendations?

Friday night festivities

My Friday night was thrilling how about yours?  Lots of bottles popping and rump shaking going on here...not really.  I spent the majority of the evening doing homework and then crocheting scarves for the new EugeniaWoods Store that will be opening October 1st in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida
It's kind of hard to tell what they actually look like when they are stacked but you can see here how they look worn on the lovely Miss Rachel.

I also watched "Love Actually", I couldn't find it on Netflix so I had to dig through our dvd collection.  It was a nice quiet evening and even though I feel like a grandma I had an enjoyable evening.  I think I did enough partying in my 20's to last a few lifetimes.

How did you spend your Friday?

Let's eat

We usually have chicfila on Thursdays but we had pizza delivered last night so I didn't want to eat out two night in a row.  So we opted for a quick and easy teri chicken and rice.  My version isn't traditional, I'm not here to trick you.  This is easy so that is why I like it.  I usually don't measure anything but I decided to measure things out so I could add the recipe to the post.

Chop up some green onions (about 2).  You will also need to mince up 1 large clove of garlic.

Put the green onion, garlic, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, a drop of sesame oil, and 3 tablespoons of sugar into a bowl.

Slice up 3 chicken breasts (I like to make mine really thin) put it into the bowl and mix it up.  I usually let it sit in the mixture for about 30mins.

Get a pan nice and hot.  Add some oil (maybe a tablespoon, I like to use canola since it can withstand more heat without burning).  Cook the chicken on med-med high heat until done, it should be browned.  On a side note I switched over to stainless from non-stick awhile back and I really like it much better.

We have a pot luck tomorrow at work for someone's birthday so I decided to make monkey bread for the first time.  Turned out pretty good I think, the kid already ate half of the one I made for us to eat.  I need to make sure I hide the other one :)

Texas ...Sunday edition

This is Piper... she was nice enough to eat my socks and let me watch her spazz out multiple times throughout the weekend.  Isn't she funny, I love her one ear up one down.  She's teeny and likes to hang out under the coffee table.

We made a trip out to The natural bridge caverns, it was amazing.

Can you believe there are people who have never made cupcakes?  I know right, nuts... as soon as I heard that I knew we HAD to make some.

Last but not least Sushi from the place that ran out of ice....did I mention it is hot in Texas?

I had a great time and I miss my bestie so much already.  I can't wait til her baby pops out so I can go visit again.

teXas (saturday edition)

I hope everyone had a nice long holiday weekend.  I spent mine in San Antonio with my bestest friend in the whole wide world and her daughter.  I can't believe it had been so long since we saw each other.  I think we will have to make more of an effort to spend time together.
Saturday we decided to go downtown to check out the Riverwalk.  I think everyone in the state of Texas had the same plans because it took forever to find parking, it seemed like every lot was full.  We did a lot of driving around.
After we found a parking spot we took a quick trip inside the Alamo so I could get some photos but they didn't allow it.  We probably spent a total of 4 mins in there and I don't think we missed much.
Did you know it is hot in Texas?
We snuck into an old hotel to suck in a few moments of A/C.
We ended the night with some BBQ.
And glitter bombed our nails
It's nice to be home but I miss them already.
