Weekend shopping

How was your weekend?  I got some light shopping done to restock on the beauty materials.
Aquage straightening ultragel

Also picked up some tools from Homedepot.  While I was there it reminded me that my backyard needed some work too.

My backyard needs some serious help.  We recently had the fence installed and now I want to get to work on the rest of it.  I spent a lot of time just staring at it for awhile trying to figure out what to do with it.  Any ideas?  I don't have $20k to put in a pool and even if I did my house would probably end up sinking when they started digging.  Does anyone have any landscape design tips?  Behind the fence which is still our property has two giant oak trees that shade most of the yard for the majority of the day so keep that in mind.

Little mini cuteness

A while ago I picked up this book with the cutest softie patterns in it.  I think they would be perfect little surprises to give someone to cheer them up.  Imagine getting one of these suckers in the mail?  Too cute, they are going on my ever growing list of things I want to make but have no time to.

Snuggly pinks

I
I am loving granny stripe blankets.  They are so easy to make without having to think to much about patterns and whatnot.  It seems the hardest part of making them is choosing the color combos.

I am hoping to finish this up during the weekend since it is a baby blanket and not nearly as large as my first one.
I have also decided to get a haircut and chop off about 12ish inches, maybe a little more or less.  I think the min for locks of love is 10 inches so it will probably be no less than that.  I don't particularly like getting my hair done so we will see how it goes.

What are your plans for the weekend?

An extra long weekend in review

Marley and I hung out on the porch a lot and enjoyed the breeze and warm Florida weather.
This is one of our neighbors cats.  He like to hang out under or on top of my car.  We don't know his name but we call him Gandolf the grey, if you're a nerd you will know the reference.
Gardening is my new obsession.  These two little cherry tomatoes are my very first "ripe" things so far.  At least I think they are ripe, I can't figure out if they are actually ready for picking.
These are regular red tomatoes, they still have a lot of growing to do.
Japanese eggplant, can't wait to harvest these and roast them.
That right there is the teeniest bell pepper starting to form.  I found 3 more buds today.
My onions are doing amazing.  I need to find out if I can cup the tops to use without killing the onion.
These containers have been filled with soil and seeds.  I hope they start to germinate soon.  There is a mixture of lettuces and herbs for cooking.
I have always been one of those people that always killed plants.  I am truly amazed at how well everything is going so far.

How was your weekend?  Did you get an extra day off?  I forgot how nice it felt not to work :)

a Beautiful day

My first day off since January was just perfect.  It was 80 degrees outside and there was a nice cool breeze.  Marley and I spent most of the afternoon on the porch relaxing.

That beast in the background is my new car.  I love it, Happy Birthday to me!

Dinner is served

I've been working, working and working some more.  I feel like I have lost touch with so many people out there on the interweb.  I decided enough is enough and am going to take a long 4 day weekend!  Except for 3am Sunday morning when I have to go in for a few hours work will be the furthest thing from my mind.  I plan on catching up on EVERYONE'S blogs, crocheting, napping, gardening, eating, napping some more, a little cleaning, did I say napping?

I've also been doing CrossFit so I am trying to ween out all the junk food and find new and exciting ways to eat healthier.  The salad I made tonight was beyond delicious.  From the grilled sesame lime shrimp, organic greens, sweet grape tomatoes, and roasted corn every bite was delightful.

Oh and for those wondering what is CrossFit?

Older, hopefully wiser

I have been working an exessive number of hours lately and haven't had much time to hardly do anything besides sleep.  Here are some photos from Friday's office celebrations and the start of my actual birthday today.  I wish I had time to write more but I am at work (in my pajamas)!

I'm getting old and it sucks.

I won't be around much this week, work has me busy.  My birthday is this weekend too and I will be working. Seems crappy but it really doesn't matter because if I was home I'd be by myself anyways (we won't go into all that).  All is not lost...I am looking forward to going to dinner Saturday night with the BF but I haven't decided where.

Busy as bee... (they will probably make that into a Geico commercial)

I've been a little busy this past week so the posting has been a little light so here is a quick recap since I probably won't have too much free time this weekend to spend on the computer.  I will be spending the most of my day today and tomorrow at work.
I made this angry birds pig as part of a co-workers birthday present.  Almost anyone with an iphone will know who he is :)  I think it's on the android market too.

Another last minute thrown together meal.  The kid really liked it so I will be making it again and will post a recipe in case anyone is interested.  This version wasn't the healthiest but there are a few ways to modify it to make it better for you.  Next time I make it I will sneak some of those in there to see if anyone notices.  If I tell the boys I changed something to make it healthier they always say they can tell and don't like it.  If I say nothing, they have no idea.  Ugh boys!

Started on book one of the Hunger Games.  I didn't realize it was such a popular series.  When I am carrying it around people always seem to comment or ask questions about it.  I have become so use to reading on the nook and people not knowing what I'm reading it comes as a little surprise when I get questions about it.

Gardening still consumes my daylight hours when I am home.  Each day that goes by the sun seems to stay around a little longer.  I can't wait until summer when the daylight sticks around after 8pm.  The blistering heat I can live without.
I also said goodbye to my old car.  I found this photo from when we first picked it up from the dealership.  I will post some photos of the new car later.

Now I am off to work @ 7am on a Saturday.  Does anyone have some fun plans that I can live vicariously through?

lovelies

I know most people are bearing down for the snow storms and freezing temps today.  If I could bottle up the warmth down here and send it to you I would.
