somewhere out there

Sometimes I feel like this place has an identity crisis and I wonder what I am trying to do here.  There are crafts but is it really a craft blog?  I'm a mom but I wouldn't consider this a mommy blog.  There are ramble fests sometimes but is there anything of real substance?   I wonder how people decide how much of themselves they choose to show the world.

Do people want to get personal and talk about stuff like birth control and brazilian whoha waxes?  Do you blog for yourself or do you always have the "readers" in mind?  I'm nosey and I like to read about people's lives.  I enjoy seeing pictures of their babies, reading engagement stories, laughing at their funny recounts of falling in public.  If this is the case should you give what you get?

  1. I believe that your blog is whatever you want it to be. If one day you feel like talking about crafts, then talk about crafts, if you feel like sharing your deep dark secrets please share, and if you feel like telling silly embarrassing stories I am sure many will read because most people like a laugh.
I can say that I for one read your blog because i like to see what you are up to and I like your personality.
    i really hope this helps.
    Take care friend!

  2. I think your blog is YOUR blog. You should post whatever you feel like posting. Just because you like taking peeks into other people's lives doesn't mean that you HAVE to share the same amount of information - but you could, if you felt comfortable.

I, for one, would love to get to know you a little better through your posts ;)

  3. I don't think every blog should belong to a narrow category. Some blogs, like yours, are about more than just one thing, and that's what's so great about them.

You should only write about what *you* want to write, not about what you think your readers would like to know. I enjoy personal stories and photos, but cringe at blog posts that reveal a little more than I wanted to know about the person (birth control, anyone?).

To summarize - continue doing exactly what you've been doing. It works. :-)

P.S. Why am I up at 3am? Go to sleep, Irit!

  4. That's why early on I decided to title my Blog as an Art & Life Blog....kinda makes it easy to choose as I please what I'd like to share that post :)

...and I have to be honest, I find it a lot more interesting/entertaining to read what's going on behind the scenes of the pretty painting or cute craft...what inspired or shaped its creation :)

Keep it yours....keep it something to be proud of....those that appreciate it will find you....those that don't will move on :)

  5. I agree with previous comments - I totally just write about whatever is on my mind, whether it makes sense or not:) Sometimes, I do wish I had something more to offer, like crafts or photography. But I still love it, and I suppose that is what matters most!

  6. I blog for readers and myself. I personally love to write and share things I love in hopes to get others to enjoy the things I am passionate about, and if they already are into the same things, then that's even better because I love meeting people that share my same interests. Miss ya home girl!

  9. My blog is about me and my life - So I think as long as it stays that way and truthful that is all that matters :) - Also I think it is completely up to how much to share

  10. I'm with Irit (above) - not all blogs have to fit into a category. Mine is a bit all over the place and that's the way I like it; I think it also appeals to more people that way. I think you've just got to go with what you feel - normally I don't share lots of very personal details, I do more chit chat about my life, but there are a couple of times when really significant things have been going on in my personal life that I've felt the need to share. So I guess my advise is just go with your gut instinct!

  11. My blog is pretty much about whatever's going on in my life. I just like the thought that I'll have something to look back on in a few years and remind me of what I've been up to, as well as seeing if I've changed at all. If I happen to pick up readers and make some friends along the way then that's a bonus!

Whatever category your blog falls under, I like it all the same. :)

  12. I mostly show postcards on my blog, but not only. It's about my whole life, sometimes I ask questions, sometimes I show crafts, pictures of snow. About what's in my mind. Just be yourself!

  13. I'm with the vast majority of your commenters (if not all) and with your last sentiment. I think blogging can make all bloggers feel a bit self-sconsious at one point or another to varying degrees. We feel that even though everyone else's lives we're reading is great reading material, ours must fall short somehow. But that's not the case. Believe in what you do and believe these people aren't just here for a pattern (well not your subscribers at least). They're here because you've drawn them in and they want to know more about YOU.

  15. It's whatever you want it to be and that's different for everyone. For me it's a few things: forces me to write stuff down, sort of like a scrap book or baby book, it's a great platform for people to see my work, and it leads to amazing opportunities like events and meeting other bloggers.

    Good luck finding your way.

  19. I will say I tend to not get too personal on my blog, sometimes I want to!!! But it's like keeping that journal that you pretty much only write in when you're upset, or depressed etc. and then looking back at it and saying "man, why did I even write that" haha So I try not to get too personal with my life on here but sometimes it happens.I just like sharing the nice things in my everyday life with people and enjoy reading theirs!
That being said, I adore your blog and really love reading your stuff and seeing the great things you create :)
    have a great night lady!
